FirstBank sponsors CFC UNILAG Academic Summit 2015

Nigeria’s most valuable bank brand, First Bank of Nigeria Limited has again demonstrated its support for sustainable youth empowerment by sponsoring the 6th edition of the CFC UNILAG Academic Summit 6.0. Themed, “The Digital Age Media: A Marriage of Skills, Opportunities and Technology”.  The summit which is scheduled to hold on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at the University of Lagos Main Auditorium is organised to effectively reach the youth segment – a critical segment in the Bank’s current development strategy.

The CFC UNILAG Academic Summit is borne out of the need for mass communication and journalism students in tertiary and pre-tertiary institutions to acquire academic knowledge and a real world experience through internship programmes and the emergence of the town and gown concept via mentorship by veterans in the various fields of the media industry. The Summit aims to become a reference point in career building for all mass communication professionals, public relations professionals, advertising professionals and online social media experts.

According to the Group Head, Marketing and Corporate Communications for FirstBank, Mrs Folake Ani-Mumuney, the Bank’s Sponsorship of the summit is a practical  demonstration of its commitment to remain a strong supporter of initiatives that are geared towards equipping the youths with the requisite skills and tools required for socio-economic empowerment through the support of youth engagement initiatives, endowment schemes and infrastructure development. “Our desire is to see our strategic and need driven youth empowerment interventions culminate in equipping Nigerian youths for a bright future.”

She further stated that the bank is poised to enhance youth empowerment, entrepreneurship and tackle some of the challenges faced by youths in their pursuit of good education , research development , small and medium scale enterprises, ICT, etc.

This year’s edition of CFC UNILAG Academic Summit is billed to play host to speakers like:  Declan Okpalaeke – Three time Winner, CNN African Journalist of the Year Award; Mr. Femi Adesina, Special Assistant to the President on Media and Former MD/Editor-in-Chief, The Sun Newspaper; Mr. Bolaji Okusaga, MD, The Quadrant Company;  Mr. Chris Doghudje, President, Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria; Mr. John Momoh, Chairman Channels Television; Mr. Ndiana Mathew, President, Palm 3 Strategy, South Africa; Mr. Richmond Dayo Johnson, Director Continental Broadcasting Service (CBS); and Mr. Simon Kolawole, Founder, The Cable Ng. The panel discussants would include Lanre Adisa, MD, Noah’s Ark; Yomi Badejo-Okusanya, MD/CEO, CMC Connect; Abimbola Adelakun, Award winning journalist and Columnist, The Punch; as well as Funmi Iyanda, Veteran Broadcaster, while Fola Folayan, On Air personality (OAP), Nigeria Info FM would moderate the Summit session.
